The Maidstone Voices is a non-auditioning community choir, formed in 2019 by Ciara Considine. Covering all genres of music, it had just performed its first concert when the global pandemic hit. Starting from scratch again in September 2021, the choir has since thrived thanks to its ethos of fun, friendship and great music. It has grown to 60+ members and regularly performs with fellow local ensembles.
In July 2025, the choir won the ‘Kent Sings’ competition, allowing them to perform at the Leeds Castle Concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London International Gospel Choir, to a standing ovation. The choir are set to tour Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way in 2027 and meanwhile continue to put on 3 or 4 concerts a year locally.
The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings, term-time, at Holy Cross Church, Bearsted ME14 4EE. All are welcome to come and try out a a rehearsal.
